The Qatar ExxonMobil Open, one of two ATP Tour events held in the Middle East, has been selected by players as the ATP 250 Tournament of the Year on three occasions (2015, ’17, ’19).

Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have won multiple titles at this event, with Nadal's haul including the 2014 singles title and four doubles crowns (2005, '09, '11 and '15). Djokovic won back-to-back titles in 2016 and '17.

The 2021 Qatar ExxonMobil Open marks the return of Roger Federer after a 13-month injury hiatus. This great Middle Eastern event is one of the most anticipated of the year.

The Qatar Open ATP 250 has a prize pool of $ 787,930. A total of 28 players participate, including three from the TOP TEN: Dominic Thiem, Roger Federer and Andrey Rublev.

The field also features Denis Shapovalov, David Goffin, Roberto Bautista Agut, Stan Wawrinka, Borna Coric, Reilly Opelka, and Aslan Karatsev, among other names.

Dominic Thiem is seeded and leads the top half of the draw, while second seed Roger Federer is the headliner in the bottom half.

Roger Federer returns to the Qatar Open for the first time since 2012, where he had reached the semi-finals.

Federer has been fired in the first round. He is then programmed to cross swords with one of Jeremy Chardy or Dan Evans in the second.

This is arguably the toughest second-round meeting among the top four seeds, given that Chardy has been in sublime form lately.

Dominic Thiem will face Aslan Karatsev or local hope Mubarak Shannan Zayid in the second round. And given Karatsev's form at the Australian Open, this could be a tough test for Thiem.

Andrey Rublev is the third seeded and has therefore received a pass in the first round. In the second, he could face Richard Gasquet, who begins his campaign against a qualifier.
