Liverpool -185

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds maintained their phenomenally consistent run of results with a hard-fought 2-1 over Crystal Palace at the weekend – an outcome that extended the club’s unbeaten run to 13 matches in all competitions.

Having recovered from the opening day loss away to Napoli with three straight wins, Liverpool are firmly in control of this UEFA Champions League (UCL) group, and will progress as group winners should they beat the Italians here. Drawn together last season as well, it’s been three straight H2H home wins so far (either way) with the home side keeping a cleansheet each time.

Liverpool’s last defeat came all the way back on September 17th, when they were comfortably outplayed and eventually dispatched 2-0 by their opponents this week Napoli in Naples. The current European champions went on to win 12 of their 13 games after their chasing in Italy, though behind the results, some of the Reds’ performances have been far from convincing.

Mohamed Salah was an unused substitute in Liverpool's 2-1 win away to Crystal Palace on Saturday, suggesting he will be fine to start against Napoli on Wednesday. Jordan Henderson recovered from illness to start against Palace and the Liverpool skipper will continue in midfield alongside Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum here. Andrew Robertson was considered a major doubt prior to the clash with Palace but recovered from an ankle injury to start.

Key Player: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (LIV) has three goals in his last two UCL matches, with two coming from outside the box.

Napoli +532

Luckily for Liverpool, they meet a Napoli side in the midst of a dreadful run of form this week. The Partenopei are without a win in six games, and even though they finished level in five of those contests, things have been looking and feeling decidedly flat for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

On the road, things have been looking similarly grim for Napoli, and the Serie A giants take a recent record of one win in six away games to the home of a Liverpool team that has won 17 fixtures at Anfield on the trot.

An against the odds upset on Wednesday is unlikely then, though Napoli should be presented with ample opportunities to notch a consolation goal against their Premier League hosts.

Playing it safe, all of Napoli’s UCL matches so far have been a draw at half-time - as have two of the last three H2Hs. However, since their last UCL away match, nine of the 13 goals scored in Napoli’s matches have been scored in the first half (69.23%).

Lorenzo Insigne left the 1-1 draw with AC Milan on Saturday with an elbow injury and will miss out here. Arkadiusz Milik is injured and is a big loss for Napoli, while Kevin Malcuit remain sidelineds for the away side.

Kostas Manolas was an unused substitute against Milan and should make his return from injury at Anfield. Faouzi Ghoulam, Mario Rui and Fabian Ruiz have made the travelling squad despite fitness concerns. Fernando Llorente, who won't start, will miss Napoli's last group game if he is booked on Wednesday night.

Key Player: Dries Mertens (NAP) scored in the reverse fixture, and has three goals in this season’s UCL, with two making him an opening goalscorer.
