FC Barcelona -500

Barcelona seldom waste any time when in action, opening the scoring inside the first half-hour in their last four competitive victories. That is also what they have managed to do in each of their last five H2H league wins at home against Celta Vigo, all of which saw them win by a margin of over 1.5 goals.

The reigning champions need to get their act together this weekend, although they are fancied to do so against 18th-placed Celta Vigo, who have registered just two points from five away matches this season.

Although Barcelona had already been beaten twice in their opening 10 La Liga games, last weekend’s 3-1 reverse at Levante was a major shock – especially after the Catalans went in front seven minutes before half-time via a Lionel Messi penalty.

Barca headed into their fixture at Ciutat de Valencia in fine fettle on the back of seven straight victories in all competitions, the latest of those in La Liga being a 5-1 drubbing of a solid Valladolid side at Camp Nou.

Key Player: Arturo Vidal scored the decisive winner in Barcelona’s last home league game, in turn being Barcelona’s second goalscorer on the day for the second LL home fixture in succession.

FC Barcelona Predicted Line-Up: Ter Stegen – Roberto, Lenglet, Pique, Semedo – Arthur, de Jong, Busquets – Fati, Griezmann, Messi (4-3-3)

Celta de Vigo +1200

Saturday night’s encounter with struggling Celta Vigo offers Barca a decent opportunity to start firing again and there could be a bit of a backlash from the champions here. They have won four and drawn one of their last five home meetings with Celestes, by an aggregate score of 20-3.

Celta Vigo travel after failing to score a single goal from open play during what is currently a run of four straight defeats. The last three of those saw ‘La Celeste’ concede the decisive losing goal inside the final 15 minutes of either half.

The visitors remain winless on the road this season (D2, L3), with both draws coming after a goalless opening 80 minutes. The three defeats, meanwhile, saw Celta fail to score from open play, in fixtures each containing exactly two match goals (total) in the second half.

Key Player: The last H2H here to see Celta avoid defeat (Dec 2017) saw Iago Aspas open the scoring. More recently, he equalised from the penalty spot on his last road trip.

Predicted Line-Ups: Blanco – Olaza, Araujo, Aidoo, Mallo – Suarez, Okay, Lobotka, Mendez – Fernandez, Aspas (4-4-2)

Extra Points
Luis Suarez is sidelined due to injury for the hosts, which should see Antoine Griezmann lead the line once again.
Ansu Fati is expected to get a start on the left-hand side of the attack as a result, with Ousmane Dembele dropping out of the team from midweek.
Oscar Garcia will be taking charge of his first game as Celta boss after Fran Escriba's sacking.
Lucas Olaza is expected to get the nod at left-back over David Junca.
