Reason for Liverpool vs Manchester City England Premier League
Liverpool have looked like a team on a mission ever since missing out on the Premier League title by a hair’s breadth last season. They bounced back from that disappointment with a Champions League triumph, and a quiet summer has been followed by a blistering start to the Premier League season.
The Reds have dropped just two points in the top flight all season, but they have looked far from invincible at times. They have ridden their luck in narrow victories against Aston Villa, Spurs, Leicester and Southampton and were rather fortunate to come away from Old Trafford with a point. That being said, 10 wins from 11 matches is a fitting tribute to their winning mentality right now.
On a stunning 45-game unbeaten home streak in the Premier League (PL), Liverpool will be confident they can increase their gap over title-chasing Manchester City to nine points, but have conceded in their last five league games at Anfield (W5), doing so in the first or last 15 minutes in the previous four. The hosts have conceded the opener within ten minutes in two of their last three PL games here, and have now seen both teams score in eight straight competitive matches (at all venues). Action-packed, all eight of those games saw goals in both halves.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain must be seriously knocking on the door for a start after a few eye-catching displays for Liverpool. Jordan Henderson missed out through illness in midweek and could make way for Oxlade-Chamberlain if he fails to recover in time.
Key Player: Mohamed Salah scored the game-winning goal in Liverpool’s last PL home win, and their last top-flight H2H victory here – both times in the final half-hour.

|Manchester City +155|
Manchester City aren’t exactly short of determination though. The Citizens may be six points adrift, but they have still won 73% of their matches this season and have scored an incredible 34 goals in the process.
Defeats against Wolves and Norwich came as a huge shock to Pep Guardiola’s side, but they rarely fail to turn up against the big guns. The Citizens’ record shows that, with them losing just one of their last 11 league meetings with the Premier League Big Six.
City must leave Anfield with a result, and with an average of 3.0 goals scored per fixture across their five PL road trips (W4, L1), as well as netting in 16 consecutive away league games, they are more than capable of doing so.
Pep Guardiola has confirmed Ederson will not recover from injury in time to face Liverpool on Sunday and his absence is a major blow for Manchester City. Claudio Bravo will start in goal as a result, though City fans would likely favour see Kyle Walker between the sticks after his cameo in that position on Wednesday.
David Silva was ruled out of this fixture last weekend and he joins Leroy Sane, Aymeric Laporte, Rodrigo and Oleksandr Zinchenko on the sidelines. Pep Guardiola may be tempted to push Fernandinho back into central midfield and start Bernardo Silva on the right wing over Riyad Mahrez.
Key Player: Raheem Sterling netted the opener in the last H2H – he’s also scored the opener in four of the previous six City games that he’s scored in.
