Reason for Borussia Dortmund vs Wolfsburg
|Borussia Dortmund -204|
Borussia Dortmund go in search of a much-needed win to help relieve mounting pressure on boss Lucien Favre. Whilst they’ve suffered only one defeat this Bundesliga campaign, they’ve drawn four of their last five top-flight games, and are only three shy of matching their seven league draws from last season.
They can usually be relied upon at home though, losing just two of their last 31 league fixtures at Signal Iduna Park, winning 23 of those games. An entertaining side to watch, seven of Dortmund’s nine Bundesliga clashes this season featured over 3.5 goals, with six witnessing both teams scoring.
First-choice goalkeeper Roman Bürki could return to the side after recovering from the flu. Marco Reus missed the midweek cup game with a muscle injury, while Mats Hummels also missed out because of a stomach virus. Both will be assessed nearer the game according to coach Lucien Favre.
Götze suffered a hairline fracture in his forearm and a ligament strain in his wrist during the Ruhr derby but was fit enough to appear as a sub in midweek. Former captain Marcel Schmelzer is ruled out with a hip injury, but Lukasz Piszczek could return to the defence, along with Germany left-back Nico Schulz.
Paco Alcácer and Marco Reus have contributed ten of Dortmund’s 20 league goals this season - eight of those came at home.

Wolfsburg are also no stranger to drawing games, having registered a league-high five stalemates after nine rounds. They do possess the only unbeaten record in the Bundesliga though, mostly thanks to their tight defence, which has kept a league-best four clean sheets so far.
Wolfsburg will enter game week 10 of the Bundesliga yet to taste defeat this season. However, cracks are beginning to show in Wolfsburg’s seemingly indestructible armour. They suffered a heavy 6-1 loss at the hands of RB Leipzig in the DFB Pokal in midweek. This loss may weigh heavily on them before this weekend’s game.
We predict that this Saturday’s match will be low scoring. Wolfsburg have scored under 1.5 goals in 7 of their 9 Bundesliga games this season. There have also been a total of under 2.5 goals scored in 7 of their 9 Bundesliga games.
Coach Oliver Glasner will have to see how his side react to the 6-1 cup thrashing at home in midweek. Rotation will probably be the order of the day, injuries permitting. USMNT international John Brooks is chomping at the bit for a return and could replace the inconsistent Jeffrey Bruma in defence.
Josuha Guilavogui will bolster midfield after sitting out in midweek through suspension. Wout Weghorst (WOL) has ten goals across his last 13 league appearances - his last four goals were either the game’s first or last.
