Vegas Golden Knights vs Colorado Avalanche NHL West Division Finals Game 2 Preview

Vegas Golden Knights Will Try to Get a Win When Meet Colorado Avalanche from Ball Arena, Denver, Colorado - NHL West Division Finals Game 2 Match Preview and Prediction Game on Wednesday, June 2, 2021.

The NHL has announced the finalists for the Vezina Trophy, recognizing the league's best goalkeeper of the season.

Two of the three finalists will meet Wednesday night when the Vegas Golden Knights and the Colorado Avalanche meet in Game 2 of their second-round series in Denver. Colorado is looking to take a 2-0 series lead after winning Game 1, 7-1.

Marc-André Fleury, the best goalkeeper of the Knights and one of Vezina's finalists, did not play in this win. Las Vegas head coach Pete DeBoer has decided to lay the 36-year veteran to rest after a tough seven-game first-round streak against the Minnesota Wild.

Fleury is almost certain to be online Wednesday night against Philipp Grubauer, Avalanche de Vézina finalist.

Andrei Vasilevskiy from Tampa Bay is the third runner-up.

DeBoer defended his decision to pick Robin Lehner Sunday night over Fleury.

But the Knights played physically, and at times too physical, in retaliation for Avalanche defender Ryan Graves' hit on Mattias Janmark in the first period. Janmark left the game after the limit stroke and his status for Game 2 has not been announced.

Graves took a few heavy hits after that, but was then knocked out by Las Vegas' Ryan Reaves at the net for Colorado in the third period. The league handed Reaves a two-game suspension for his actions.

Graves is expected to be fine for Wednesday, but it could be the least concern for Las Vegas. Avalanche's front row, comprised of Nathan MacKinnon (two goals, one assist), Captain Gabriel Landeskog (two goals, one assist) and Mikko Rantanen (one goal, one assist) dominated the first match and combined 14 of 37 shots on Colorado's doorstep. . .

The Knights have recognized that they need to play better against the trio.

Despite the lopsided score, Vegas isn't worried about a replay Wednesday night.

The Avalanches said they'll be ready for a different, more rested Las Vegas team Wednesday, and they won't relax after an easy win in Game 1.
