Nashville Predators Will Try to Get a Win When Meet Carolina Hurricanes from PNC Arena, Raleigh, North Carolina - NHL Central Division Semifinals Game 5 Match Preview and Prediction Game on Tuesday, May 25, 2021.

Preview, Prediction and Picks

With nothing to show after more than 191 minutes of hockey in Games 3 and 4, the Carolina Hurricanes will look to regain the series lead when they host the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night in Raleigh, North Carolina. North, in Game 5 of their first round. of the Stanley Cup. playoff game.

The series is tied at two games each. Carolina won the first two games at home before the Predators tied the series with two spectacular double overtime victories at Nashville.

After Matt Duchene's goal in the second period sealed a 5-4 victory over the Predators in Game 3, it was Luke Kunin's turn to be the overtime hero in Game 4 on Sunday.

Mikael Granlund's pass from behind the goal line found Kunin's streak of 16:10 in double overtime, giving Kunin his second goal of the game when Nashville won 4-3.

Kunin barely participated in the match due to a broken stick, as he had to return to the bench to rearm. Nashville coach John Hynes thanked equipment director Pete Rogers for quickly providing Kunin with a new club, allowing the center to slide to the side of the Carolina ice rink.

It's the kind of little moment that can decide a close game, even though the Hurricanes topped the stat list. Carolina beat Nashville 61-43, but Predators goalkeeper Juuse Saros posted his second consecutive breakout performance.

Saros stopped 58 of 61 shots, setting a franchise record for saves in a regular season or playoff game. The outing came immediately after Saros stopped 52 of 56 shots in Game 3.

Since saves became an official NHL statistic in the 1955-56 season, only one other goalie, Curtis Joseph of the St. Louis Blues in the 1993 playoffs, made 50 or more saves in the game.

Rather than get frustrated with Saros, Hurricanes forward Jordan Martinook said he believes his team is on the right track.

Alex Nedeljkovic saved 39 of Nashville's 43 shots in Game 4. Though overshadowed by Saros's exploits, Nedeljkovic has also been excellent in the series, posting a .928 save percentage and a 2.13 goals-against average in the four games.

Carolina defender Jaccob Slavin is questionable for Game 5 after missing the last three games with a lower body injury.

The Predators could also be deprived of a key member of their roster, as Viktor Arvidsson (upper body injury) did not play in Games 3 or 4.

Game 6 is Thursday in Nashville. If necessary, Game 7 will be held in Raleigh on Saturday.
