Francouz stopped 18 of 20 shots in relief of an injured Philipp Grubauer (lower body) in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 1. Francouz was called upon in the second period when Grubauer left the ice without putting weight on his left leg.
Dallas Stars +135
The Dallas Stars have scored a dozen goals in their last two games and opened that series with a 5-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.
Tyler Seguin, Blake Comeau and Roope Hintz each scored individual goals and Alexander Radulov scored a pair of goals to lead the Stars to their first win. Jamie Benn has had three assists, including from Radulov's scorers and the Stars take the lead in the series.
Dallas went 2-for-2 in the power play and avoided every one of his three short chances Saturday night. Since the start of the playoffs, the Stars have a 18.8% success rate in powerplay and have eliminated 77.8% of their short trades during their time as a center in the Edmonton playoffs.
Goalkeeper Ben Bishop did not dress for Saturday night's contest and is IL's top player for that contest.
Anton Khudobin stopped 28 of 31 shots in Game 1 and will likely deal with the thread Monday night. Khudobin is now 5-3 in these playoffs with a GAA of 2.55 and a 91% save percentage in downtown Edmonton.
Colorado Avalanche -162
Not only did Colorado lose Game 1, they likely lost Grubauer in the process. This is not good news for Avalanche and they will need to improve their 13th place with 2.54 goals per game or it will be a short streak.
Colorado center Nathan MacKinnon has scored two goals with one assist and with those three points is the top scorer in the playoffs. Left winger Gabriel Landeskog added a goal with an assist to complete the Avalanche scoreboard.
The Avalanches were 0-3 in the power play, but held Dallas off the scoreboard during the Stars' three power play attempts. During the playoffs, Colorado has a 29.2% power play success rate and has killed 88.9% of its own penalties.
Grubauer is listed as absent for Game 2 and his status for the remainder of this series remains unresolved.
Pavel Francouz stopped 18 of 20 shots as a substitute for Grubauer and is the lead man for Colorado. At least he agrees with head coach Travis Green. Francouz is 1-2 in this season's playoffs with a 1.59 GAA and 94% save percentage, including a shutout at center in Edmonton.
