2021 Magical Kenya Open PGA Golf Preview
|Mar 18-21, 2021|
The European Tour moves to Africa this week for the Magical Kenya Open, a tournament with a million euros in prizes with the Karen Country Club of Nairobi as the venue.
It is played at the Karen Country Club, located fifteen kilometers southwest of Nairobi and at more than 1,800 meters above sea level, a peculiarity that of course directly influences the game, since the ball flies more and is made more distance, as It is well known, in such a way that its 6,329 meters in length, already a rather short measure for professionals, are made even shorter.
There is another peculiarity in this African route with more than eighty years behind it and some remodeling, which the players who have already tasted it know perfectly: the tournament, in each round, is truly won between holes 6 and 12.
In This seven-hole stretch is home to the three par 5s of the course (holes 6, 11 and 12), in addition to two short par 4s, one of them, hole 9, where you usually shoot to the green from the tee.
The figures are devastating in this regard. Two years ago, in the first edition of this tournament, six of the seven easiest of the course were placed on this seven-hole section.
On the other hand, of the total of 1,583 birdies that were made during the week, 1,036 were achieved in this section, two thirds of the total.
And in addition, in these seven holes 50 of the 53 eagles that were seen in the tournament were made (94.33 percent of the total).
The Italian Guido Migliozzi would then claim victory with a cumulative -16 and his result in this section was -12, neither more nor less.
