San Francisco 49ers vs New England Patriots NFL Football Week 7 Odds, Prediction and Picks
San Francisco 49ers vs New England Patriots Prediction, Betting Tips and Preview of the match for the NFL Football Game on Sunday October 25th, 2020.
|#469 San Francisco 49ers +2.5|
|Jimmy Garoppolo | 735 PY / 63.6 C% / 101.2 R|
Garoppolo did a good job in the Niners' 24-16 home win over the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday night.
He was 23 of 33 for 268 yards with three touchdowns. The week before, Jimmy G. had been benched against the Dolphins, completing 7-of-17 for 77 yards with two picks, following an ankle injury.
Garoppolo will have to be a Jedi in name only for this game with real grumpy runner Jerick McKinnon job.
The team is likely to be left without Raheem Mostert, who could head to the reserve injured with a sprained ankle.
He leads the 49ers with 303 rushing yards and an average of 5.9 yards per carry despite three lost games.
On the defensive end, the 49ers secondary is allowing just 212.7 passing yards per game, which currently ranks fourth in the league.
That's not bad considering veteran cornerback Richard Sherman has missed most of the season with injury.
Still, since the Patriots lack a legitimate deep receiver threat, they will have to worry more about the rushing attack led by quarterback Cam Newton.
|#470 New England Patriots 44.5|
|Cam Newton | 871 PY / 68.1 C% / 81.5 R|
Despite one of the Patriots' worst home performances with Bill Belichick, quarterback Cam Newton remains convinced that the answers to the team's struggles this season lie in the locker room.
You have to appreciate Newton's optimism after the team's embarrassing 18-12 loss to the Denver Broncos, but it's also clear that the day will need a major receiver upgrade.
Julian Edelman looks lost and frustrated in the passing game. In fact, he excelled more on the court playing quarterback on return plays than as a receiver.
Things won't be any easier for the Patriots against the 49ers fourth pass defense. Of course, they've gotten a little light in the passing department with the departure of DeForest Buckner and Nick Bosa's injury, but the 49ers are still a top 10 defense that can defend at the rear.
They also did a decent job filling the run, which should create a lot of headaches for Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels in setting a game plan for this week.
