The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns are on the road as they travel to face the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Thursday night. Louisiana comes in off a 31-3 home victory over Texas State Saturday night in their last contest.

Coastal Carolina rallied in the final seconds to stun Troy 36-35 at home Saturday in their previous contest. The Chanticleers won the only previous meeting with both teams as FBS programs, taking a 30-28 road win on September 22, 2018.

With the win, the Ragin Cajuns are now 6-2 on the year with a 3-1 conference record which puts them in 1st place in the Sun Belt-West.  Quarterback Levi Lewis has thrown for 1,475 yards, 11 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on the year. 

Ja’Marcus Bradley has been the Ragin Cajuns leading receiver and has caught 29 passes for 439 yards and 4 touchdowns on the year.  The lead rusher for Louisiana has been Elijah Mitchell who has ran 116 times for 705 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Coastal Carolina Chanticleers +14

Coastal Carolina came up with a late scoring drive and then converted a game-winning two-point conversion with 30 seconds to play to shock Troy and earn their first conference win of the year. The Chanticleers went 11 plays and 71 yards over 1:45 to drive for the winning score.

Coastal Carolina was outgained 500-476 in the game: both teams had 27 first downs and turned the ball over once. The Chanticleers controlled the clock by a 36:38 to 23:22 margin: they wore down the Troy defense and that proved critical on the game’s final drive.

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers head into Thursday’s game after beating the University of Troy 36-35 in their last game.  In their game against Troy, Coastal Carolina was led by quarterback Bryce Carpenter who completed 32 of 45 passes for 285 yards and a touchdown. 

The Chanticleers running game was also strong against Troy, which included Jacqez Hariston who ran just 7 times for 72 yards, but scored 2 touchdowns.
