Nordine Oubaali vs Nonito Donaire WBC Bantamweight Title Bout, Betting Odds and Props - Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson, California, Watch on SHOWTIME.

November 7, 2019 was the last time that French Nordine Oubaali 17 (12KO) -0 and Filipino Nonito Donaire 40 (26KO) -6 (1) stepped into a ring, each facing in Japan one of the Inoue brothers: Oubaali faced Takuma Inoue and Donaire faced Naoya Inoue. Both had very demanding matches and were shaken, but they also made their opponents have to apply themselves to the maximum, adding Oubaali a unanimous victory with excessively wide cards and Donaire a unanimous defeat that was not exactly a demerit against a top pound for pound.

A year and a half after that important date for both, Oubaali and Donaire will meet again in the same evening, but this time they will face directly in a WBC world bantamweight that will be the stellar duel of a Premier Boxing Champions event broadcast by Showtime this Saturday and organized at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, United States.

The materialization of this struggle has been a true nightmare, not being convenient to bore the reader detailing the months of constant comings and goings in the negotiations, the postponements and the contradictions in the information of all those involved, including the WBC. It is enough to indicate that when some said that the fight was done, the others pointed out that it could not take place next, and that at a certain moment it even seemed that the fight was not going to take place, although finally the important thing is that both are already waiting to cross fists this weekend and offer what will surely be a very entertaining duel.

Certainly, those who have followed the recent trajectory of Oubaali and Donaire somewhat will know that neither of them offers boring fights, both being two boxers who, without forgetting their good technical base, seek to fight in the middle distance to connect their punches from can. Thus, they have shown tremendous power, great skill in exchanges and tenacity, so it is to be expected that the clash between them will have a lot of action and moments of spectacularity.

As for who will be the winner, that is not a question that can be answered with absolute certainty, since, although Oubaali is a slight favorite (€ 1.38 for the € 3.00 paid by Donaire) for being younger Closer to peak performance and having suffered far less burnout in his career, Donaire is a fighter who is totally on the supernatural level.

In other words, there is no precedent for a boxer who was active in flyweight nearly 20 years ago to sustain himself for two decades at the highest level all the way up to featherweight (earning belts along the way in each category and knocking out breathtakingly big. part of his opposition) and that when he is in the final stretch of his career he may also suddenly descend from featherweight to bantamweight and enter a streak that leads to a fight in which he brings the fearsome number 1 close to defeat of the division and a top of all weights. All in all, this is the summary of the career of Donaire, a boxer who was linked for years to the doping convict Victor Conte and one of the first big names to work with him publicly after his return to the training of athletes.

Therefore, making reasonable projections about Donaire and his performance is a largely futile exercise, since time and time again he has done things infinitely more complicated than what other boxers can do to be called overly ambitious and unrealistic. Simply, after causing a fracture in the orbital bone to "Monster" Inoue, the Tagalog is still capable of anything whatever his secrets are in order to always be at the level of the elite.

In principle, the theoretical reading is that an Oubaali with a great cadence of hitting, very aggressive and that handles his entrances and exits well, that he is left-handed and that he has a superior amateur career (he was world bronze and participated in two Olympic Games) he should be able to beat an opponent much more punished, who would have to be more severely affected by the same margin of inactivity and who comes from a diminishing battle against Naoya Inoue.
