The Florida State Seminoles had to fight through North Carolina Greensboro on Saturday, while the Colorado Buffaloes took an easy victory over the Georgetown Hoyas.

How the teams made it to the East Region second round won't be a problem when the two meet Monday in Indianapolis. The No. 4 Spartans (17-6) had to resist a push in the second half from the 13th-seeded Valiant Spartans, who cut a 12-point deficit to one point in the final five minutes before losing by 10.

There was absolutely no drama for the No. 5 Buffaloes (23-8), who led by no less than 32 in a 96-73 win over Hoyas, the 12th seed.

Both teams are tournament tested, having reached the finals of their respective conference tournaments. Florida State had an unusual path, winning its first game before advancing to the final after COVID-19 problems forced Duke to forfeit the semifinal.

The Seminoles lost to Georgia Tech in the ACC final, but showed no hangovers against UNC Greensboro.

Colorado won its first two games of the Pac-12 tournament before being defeated by Oregon State in the final. The Buffaloes didn't let that disappointment last until Saturday when they won for the seventh time in their last eight games.

The teams did not have a common opponent this truncated season, and a quick change will be difficult for both coaches. Florida State is undoubtedly aware of Colorado's McKinley Wright IV, but the Buffaloes' win over Georgetown showcased the talents of freshman Jabari Walker.

Walker scored 24 points and made all five of his 3-point attempts, giving the Buffaloes another scoring threat alongside Wright, Jeriah Horne and D'Shawn Schwartz. The Buffaloes made 16 3s in the victory and shot 60.7% from the field and 64% from beyond the arc.

As Colorado used the long ball to win, the Seminoles missed all nine of their 3-point attempts, but were able to win by being effective from inside the arc. Florida State was 25 of 39 with 2 points and shot 52.1 percent from the field overall.

The Seminoles freaked out when top scorer M.J. Walker limped with an ankle injury in the second half. He went to the locker room but returned a few minutes later to help Florida State hold out. Walker entered the day averaging 13 points per game, but had only four points against UNC Greensboro in 32 minutes.

RaiQuan Gray (17 points), Balsa Koprivica (13 points, nine rebounds) and Anthony Polite (12 points) took over.

Walker is expected to be fine for Monday's game and is doing much better than his coach, Leonard Hamilton, who suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon last week. Hamilton wore a boot on the bench and did not regret his situation.

WINNER: Colorado Buffaloes @ +1.5
