Atlanta Hawks vs New York Knicks NBA Playoffs Preview and Prediction

Atlanta Hawks Will Try to Get a Win When Meet New York Knicks from Madison Square Garden, New York, New York - NBA Basketball Match Preview and Prediction Game on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

Preview, Prediction and Picks

Trae Young memorably put a finger to his lips to muffle the crowd at Madison Square Garden on Sunday after throwing a silencer from a 0.9-second starting basket in the fourth quarter.

Young is back on Broadway for an encore Wednesday when the Atlanta Hawks visit the New York Knicks for Game 2 of their Eastern Conference first-round series.

The third-year goalkeeper gleefully appeased the crowd Sunday with 32 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds in the Hawks' 107-105 victory.

Young scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to mark the Hawks' big rise.

Atlanta hit 5 of 7 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, and Bogdan Bogdanovic hit 3 of 4 beyond the arc. Bogdanovic drained 3 critical points with 55 seconds remaining to forge a tie at 103.

Young was the talk of the town after his playoff debut. New Yorker Julius Randle found himself on the defensive after his performance on the big stage.

He had 6 of 23 shots for 15 points in Game 1 after averaging 37.3 points, 12.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists in three regular season games against the Hawks.

RJ Barrett wasn't much better after a 6-of-15 performance for 14 points.

Alec Burks, however, scored 18 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter.

New York could be tasked with reshuffling its roster after center Nerlens Noel injured his ankle in the fourth quarter of Game 1. Taj Gibson and Norvel Pelle would be on the longest playing time line if Noel couldn't play on Wednesday.

The Knicks have a roster decision involving starting point guard Elfrid Payton, who missed all three shots he attempted and failed to score in the first playoff game of his career. Coach Tom Thibodeau sidestepped a direct question Monday about whether Frank Ntilikina or some other option could start for Game 2.
