Tampa Bay Rays +115

Charlie Morton
Tampa Bay Rays Starting Pitcher

166194.23.05  1.08
Note: Charlie Morton is the pitcher who takes to the mound for the Rays in this game. During the regular season Morton posted a 16-6 record. He ended up getting a 3.05 ERA on the year

Tampa Bay dropped two of three to close the season against Toronto and the series loss put this game on the road as opposed to Tropicana Field.

The Rays finished the regular season 96-66, one game behind the A’s: they were second in the AL East, seven games behind the Yankees. Ji-Man Choi (run, RBI) and Daniel Robertson each had two hits in the defeat for Tampa Bay.

Blake Snell (6-8) took the loss on the mound as he allowed two runs on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts over 2.1 innings of work in the contest.

The Rays are a team that has really had some great games and with Morton on the mound the Rays are definitely going to give the Athletics all they can handle.

Note: Sean Manaea is the pitcher the Rays have come to rely on this year at different points. He is still fairly new to the Athletics with a 2019 record of 4-0, but posted a 1.21 ERA and struck out a total of 30 batters on the season this year.

Oakland is in the wild card game for the second straight year and now look to avenge last season’s defeat to the Yankees. The A’s finished the regular season 97-65 after splitting their four-game set with the Mariners.

Oakland finished with only three hits in the game: Jurickson Profar had two of them while Robbie Grossman recorded the other. The A’s lone run scored in the ninth inning on an RBI groundout by Josh Phegley.

Tanner Roark (4-3 with Oakland, 10-10 overall) took the loss as he allowed three runs on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts over five innings of work.
