Friday, May 28, 2021 - MLB Matchups

Marlins 7:10 ET Red Sox
+150 Odds -160
24-26 Stats 30-20
8.5 O Total 8.5 U
Cody Poteet (R) Pitcher Martin Perez (L)

Miami Marlins vs Boston Red Sox While I'm not very good with the Red Sox's Martin Perez, the Red Sox roster is too strong to pass up here. I'll take Boston home to the silver line.

Pick: Boston Red Sox -160

Yankees 7:10 ET Tigers
-280 Odds +240
29-21 Stats 19-31
7.0 O Total 7.0 U
Gerrit Cole (R) Pitcher Casey Mize (R)

New York Yankees vs Detroit Tigers This might be the most public piece on the board, but I have to get the Yankees with Gerrit Cole to the mound here. The Tigers' Casey Mize should be fighting this seasoned Yankees roster. I'm going to set the track line with the Bronx Bombers here.

Picks: New York Yankees -1.5

Blue Jays 7:10 ET Indians
-159 Odds +149
25-24 Stats 27-21
7.5 O Total 7.5 U
Hyun Jin Ryu (L) Pitcher Eli Morgan (R)

Toronto Blue Jays vs Cleveland Indians With Toronto's ace on the mound in Hyun Jin Ryu, I love that the Blue Jays get a road win in Cleveland here. The Blue Jays are three games over .500 on the road this season and I think they find their 16th road win here.

Picks: Toronto Blue Jays -159

Orioles 8:10 ET White Sox
+195 Odds -215
17-33 Stats 29-20
8.5 O Total 8.5 U
Matt Harvey (R) Pitcher Dallas Keuchel (L)

Baltimore Orioles Chicago White Sox The Orioles are struggling, but I think they keep this game close. Dallas Keuchel of the White Sox hasn't been buoyant this season and I think Baltimore is taking advantage of that early on. Matt Harvey and the O's pitching staff just need to be decent for the Orioles to find running line coverage here like a road dog.

Picks: Baltimore Orioles +195

Royals 8:10 ET Twins
+151 Odds -161
23-25 Stats 20-29
9.0 O Total 9.0 U
Kris Bubic (L) Pitcher Randy Dobnak (R)

Kansas City Royals Minnesota Twins The Twins are still far behind in the AL Central standings, but I think this team has enough talent to start winning more and more. It starts on Friday, because I think Minnesota's Randy Dobnak is doing enough in his short start to keep the Twins competitive.

Picks: Minnesota Twins -161

Padres 8:10 ET Astros
+107 Odds -117
32-19 Stats 27-22
8.0 O Total 8.0 U
Dinelson Lamet (R) Pitcher Framber Valdez (L)

San Diego Padres Houston Astros
It should be a great series between two tough teams, and I think we'll see fireworks in the first game of this series. The Padres' Dinelson Lamet has been interested, but he's not getting into the games. I hope both teams score a lot of points late to bring this game over the total.

Choose: 8.5+

Angels 9:40 ET Athletics
+135 Odds -145
22-28 Stats 30-22
7.5 O Total 7.5 U
Shohei Ohtani (R) Pitcher Sean Manaea (L)

Los Angeles Angels Oakland Athletics
I have to get Alex Cobb out of the Angels there because the A's should be able to take advantage of him early on. Cobb has had a walking problem so far this season, and the Aces are the team to blame him. I love Oakland on Friday night.

Elections: Oakland Athletics -145

Cardinals 9:40 ET Diamondbacks
+126 Odds -136
28-22 Stats 18-33
9.5 O Total 9.5 U
Johan Oviedo (R) Pitcher Madison Bumgarner (L)

St. Louis Cardinals vs Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks are colliding hard, but I think they will find a victory on Friday against these Cardinals. Arizona's Madison Bumgarner has been a completely different pitcher than he was at the start of this season. I don't trust the Cardinals' Johan Oviedo on the road, so I'll side with the locals.

Elections: Arizona Diamondbacks -111

Giants 10:10 ET Dodgers
+185 Odds -200
30-20 Stats 31-19
7.5 O Total 7.5 U
Anthony DeSclafani (R) Pitcher Walker Buehler (R)

San Francisco Giants +185 Los Angeles Dodgers
I think all the value is in the road dog at the San Francisco Giants in this one. We have strong pitchers in DeScalfani of the Giants and Walker Buehler of the Dodgers. I think we're looking at a close pitching matchup in which the devious Giants pull off a late win.

Elections: San Francisco Giants +185

Rangers 10:10 ET Mariners
+113 Odds -123
22-30 Stats 24-27
8.5 O Total 8.5 U
Jordan Lyles (R) Pitcher Justus Sheffield (L)

Texas Rangers +100 Seattle Mariners -120 Total: 9
With two pitchers over 5.00 ERA on the Rangers 'Jordan Lyles and the Mariners' Justus Sheffield, expect plenty of offense between two teams that aren't necessarily known to do flat damage. It could be an offensive escape game for both sides, and it's the one I like the most.

Choose: more than 9
