New York Yankees +147

The New York Yankees failed in their opportunity to take a stranglehold of the American League Championship Series, but were able to gain home-field advantage as the Houston Astros with Gerrit Cole on the mound pay a visit for Game 3 on Tuesday afternoon. The Yankees rolled to a 7-0 victory in Game 1 before Carlos Correa’s walk-off homer in the 11th inning gave the Astros a 3-2 victory Sunday and evened the series as it moves to New York for the next three contests.

The New York Yankees won 57 games at home during the regular season and will host the next three games of this best-of-seven series. In Game Two, nine New York pitchers combined to strike out 14 batters. Aaron Judge connected on a two-run blast in the fourth inning in a losing effort for the Yankees.

New York had their chances to take a commanding 2-0 series lead heading home but ended up losing in extra innings. The Yankees now have to regroup and refocus as they head home for Games 3, 4 and 5. New York got two hits from Brett Gardner while Aaron Judge accounted for the team’s offense with a two-run homer, his first homer of the postseason, in the fourth inning.

The Yankees will counter with talented right-hander Luis Severino (1-1 1.50 ERA) in Game Three. Severino, who missed most of the regular season with a shoulder injury, tossed four scoreless innings during a 5-1 series clinching victory at Minnesota.

Yankees are 5-13 in their last 18 League Championship games, Yankees are 2-6 in their last 8 during game 6 of a series.
