PREVIEW

Spring is here and MLB baseball is back, 2020 has been a bad year in many ways and a 60-game baseball season is not really a baseball season. it was better than nothing, but that's it.

Los Angeles Dodgers 2020 defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers is the clear favorite going into 2021. That will happen when you add the 2020 National League Cy Young Award winner to what was already one of three. best rotations in all of baseball. Their lineup still boasts three National League MVPs and the 1-8 is as deep as anyone on either side of the league. It's pretty simple, this is the most talented team and they just won the championship so they are a common choice to do it again.

New York Yankees were eliminated by their divisional foe, Tampa Bay, in the 2020 ALDS, but for the second year in a row they are the favorite to come out of the American League. They rehired veteran second baseman DJ LeMahieu as the biggest move of their offseason. They also added veteran relievers Darren O'Day and Justin Wilson to a bullpen that features Aroldis Chapman and Chad Green. Your success will come down to the initial rotation. They lost Masahiro Tanaka, J.A. Happ and James Paxton to free agency, and in addition to Gerrit Cole, a Cy Young favorite, their rotation is high risk / high reward. They signed former Cy Young winner Corey Kluber, but he has to show that he can go back to his old ways. Then there are Luis Severino, Jordan Montgomery, Jameson Taillon and Deivi Garcia, names with potential, but many young people who need to show that they can handle more than 160 innings in the majors.

Chicago White Sox lineup can absolutely crush Tim Anderson, Yoan Moncada, Eloy Jiménez, Luis Robert, José Abreu, etc. They also added Lance Lynn in the offseason, Lucas Giolito threw a no-hitter last year, Dallas Keuchel is a perfect veteran leader and a left-handed arm they need, and Dylan Cease and Michael Kopech (who opted out of 2020) are. extremely bright. Talented young arms who are No. 1 or No. 2 in the rotation, but who will pitch from the end of the rotation.

San Diego Padres added two bona fide stallions to the rotation: former Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell and 2020 Cy Young runner-up Yu Darvish. They also added Joe Musgrove, who was solid in Pittsburgh last year. They signed Fernando Tatis Jr., to a deal that seems to last 50 years and they have a bash brother for him to do damage in the middle of the lineup in Manny Machado.

Toronto Blue Jays signed George Springer in the offseason as leader and got Marcus Semien from the Athletics (how the Athletics let him walk is beyond me, but that's another story). They have a roster of young studs with Vladimir Gurrero Jr., Bo Bichette and Cavan Bigigio and Teoscar Hernandez. The question mark is the starting rotation, spearheaded by Hyun Jin Ryu and new acquisition Robbie Ray and bolstered by Tanner Roark, Steven Matz, and Nate Pearson.
